The Jackson County Board of Commissioners has asked Gov. Tina Kotek not to veto infrastructure projects in Gold Hill, Shady Cove and Butte Falls that would support existing homes while paving the way for new housing development.
Kotek will decide by Wednesday whether to veto $1 million for Gold Hill water system upgrades, $1.5million to create a Shady Cove municipal water supply and $1.5million for Butte Falls sewage system improvements.
MEDFORD — After winning the virtual race in 2021, Grants Pass' Tyler Goens won the real thing on Saturday.
Goens, a 2009 North Valley High graduate, covered the 10-mile course in 58 minutes, 48.7 seconds to win the men's title at the Pear Blossom Run.
The local 33-year-old won the race by nearly one minute as Matthew Kidwell, 42, of Eureka, California, finished second in 59:46.8. Goens and Kidwell were the only competitors to go under an hour. Read More »
A Williams man faces up to five years in prison for a 2022 shooting in the Applegate Valley area south of Grants Pass.
Court records show Douglas Brinton Walker, 66, pleaded no contest last Thursday in Jackson County Circuit Court in Medford to charges of unlawful use of a weapon and fourth-degree assault.
In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dropped more serious charges of attempted murder and first-degree assault. Read More »
