HELLGATE CANYON — To celebrate Earth Day 2024, the Josephine County Search and Rescue rope team on Saturday rappelled down cliffs in the scenic Hellgate Canyon to recover trash scattered from the roadway down to the river below.

Glendale and Illinois Valley split a District 6 softball doubleheader Friday at Glendale, with the Pirates winning the first game 9-8 in nine innings and the Cougars taking the nightcap, 14-12.
