Easterly Government Properties says it has been awarded a 20-year, noncancelable lease to build a 40,035-square-foot federal building and courthouse in Medford.

An announcement this week that a new federal courthouse will be built in Medford has thrown attention on the fate of the city's current federal courthouse.
The historic James A. Redden U.S. Courthouse, 310 W. Sixth St., Medford, is slated for "disposition," according to information received by the office of Sen. Ron Wyden and forwarded to the Daily Courier by his office.
Kentucky Derby entry Owen Almighty, a horse owned by Dutch Bros Coffee co-founder Travis Boersma of Grants Pass, works out at Churchill Downs on Tuesday in Louisville, Kentucky. Owen Almighty was pegged as a 40-1 long shot by oddsmakers this morning.

It's not uncommon to see Dutch Bros Coffee co-founder Travis Boersma at Grants Pass Golf Club or a Caveman game, like last week's baseball contest against Roseburg at George Russell Field.
But local residents may see Boersma in some different surroundings if they're watching Saturday's television coverage of the Kentucky Derby.
