WHITE CITY — For Patrick Oppelt, a Marine veteran, the U.S. flag is not just a piece of cloth. And the way one is handled at the end of its service matters a lot to him.
"I get very emotional," said Oppelt as he helped a local contingent of the Young Marines respectfully retire some 300 worn out flags during a ceremony Saturday at the VA rehab center in White City.
