Milwaukee-based Bucyrus International designs and manufactures mining equipment used in extracting coal, copper, oil sands, and other minerals. In addition, the company sells aftermarket parts and services to support its installed base of machinery. Bucyrus expanded its operations to include underground equipment when it acquired German mining machinery manufacturer DBT in 2007. The firm recently announced an agreement to be acquired by Caterpillar in mid-2011.
