Mirant is an independent power producer with 11 plants and 10,100 megawatts of domestic power generation capacity serving the mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions and California. In January 2006, the company emerged from two and a half years in bankruptcy. In 2007, it sold its regulated utilities in the Philippines and Caribbean and six of its U.S. natural gas plants.
