Frank James   (1995-12-31)
Dr. Frank James, Ph.D. is the Founder and Chairman of James Investment Research. Dr. James earned his Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1967. His dissertation, The Implications of Trend Persistency in Portfolio Management, provided a computer-based study of the price movements of every security listed on the New York Stock Exchange between 1926 and 1960. The results of his research in identifying securities with high probability of future appreciation continue to be used in the firm today. Dr. James was formerly in charge of the graduate management program, and a professor of Management and Statistics, at the Air Force Institute of Technology. His current responsibilities include overseeing the company's innovative investment management and research, and managing the firm's legal and financial matters. Dr. James maintains the firm’s dedication to providing its employees with a productive work environment supported by state-of-art technology
David W. James   (1995-12-31)
David James is a Senior Vice President of Research and portfolio manager. David’s responsibilities include a variety of research projects and statistical analysis. David started with JIR in 1980 and helped develop the computer model for screening stocks.
Barry R. James   (1995-12-31)
Barry R. James, CFA, CIC is President and Portfolio Manager with James Investment Research, CEO of James Capital Alliance, and President of the James Advantage Funds. Barry received his undergraduate degree from The United States Air Force Academy and his Master’s Degree from Boston University. He joined James Investment Research in its beginning years before a tour of duty as an officer with the United States Air Force. He returned to the company in 1986. Barry is a senior member of the Investment Committee.
Thomas L. Mangan   (1995-12-31)
Thomas L. Mangan joined the firm in 1994 as First Vice President. He brings more than 30 years’ investment experience, including specific expertise in fixed-income securities, portfolio management and trading. He has been with major bond dealers in New York, London and Chicago. Tom’s chief duties are in the areas of portfolio management, security analysis and client service. Tom graduated from The Ohio State University and received an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. Prior to joining James, he was a Senior Vice President with Fuji Securities in Chicago. Tom is Director of Fixed Income and a member of the JIR Investment Committee. In addition, Tom is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the James Advantage Funds. He is also the Funds’ Chief Compliance Officer
Ann M. Shaw   (1995-12-31)
Ann M. Shaw, CFP, joined James Investment Research in 1978. She is Chief Operating Officer and Portfolio Manager. Ann is a senior member of the Investment Committee of James Investment Research and Secretary/Treasurer of James Capital Alliance. She is also is involved in security analysis and client service. Ms. Shaw received her Bachelor’s Degree from Capital University.
R. Brian Culpepper   (1998-12-31)
R. Brian Culpepper, is First Vice President and Portfolio Manager with James Investment Research, Inc. He also serves as an Investment Committee member. Brian assists in equity research and helps analyze stocks and mutual funds. He joined the firm in 1995. Brian often presents to the Investment Committee. He is a graduate of Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio where he earned a double Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems and Management in 1995 an MBA in 2005. Brian also earned the Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor from the College for Financial Planning.
Brian P. Shepardson   (2001-12-31)
Shepardson is an Assistant Vice president and a portfolio manager. Shepardson holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Brian heads up the selection process as well as the daily management of the "short-side" of our hedge funds. He has many duties including the analysis of equities, fixed income, and mutual funds. He obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Cincinnati in 1996.
