The church, a Gothic Revival building that dates to the 1840s, is one of 14 sites in Brunswick on the National Register of Historic Places. Worshippers at the church included “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” author Harriet Beecher Stowe, and Chamberlain, who led Union forces during the Civil War at the Little Round Top victory at the Battle of Gettysburg and who later accepted the Confederacy surrender at Appomattox in Virgina.
