LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his father in November.

Court records show James Daniel Sparkman is charged in the Nov. 14 death of 53-year-old James Danthon Sparkman in southwest Little Rock.

The son has pleaded not guilty to the charge and previously said the shooting was in self-defense.

Police initially interviewed and released James Daniel Sparkman following the fatal shooting, however charges were filed Friday and Sparkman surrendered to police.
