KABUL (AP) -- Five Afghan border security guards have died in a roadside bombing in southern Afghanistan near the Pakistan border.
Gen. Abdul Raziq, a border security commander, said Sunday that the bombing occurred before dawn on a heavily used road in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province.
The district is in a volatile area, which has been patrolled mostly by border security police. U.S. troops moved into the region in July.
