KABUL (AP) -- Afghan security forces say there has been a large explosion near the luxury Serena Hotel in Afghanistan's capital. There are no immediate reports of casualties.

Army Sgt. Shamsullah Shams says a rocket hit outside the hotel late Saturday. Police officers running to help secure the area confirmed the account.

An Associated Press reporter at the scene saw ambulances rushing to the blast area. It was not immediately clear if there was damage to the hotel.
