Indians send LHP Hagadone to Columbus
CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Indians optioned left-hander Nick Hagadone to Triple-A Columbus, clearing a roster space for the expected activation of valuable setup man Vinnie Pestano.
Pestano has been on the disabled list since May 1 with a sore right elbow. The Indians plan to activate him on Friday before opening a four-game series with Seattle. Pestano made a rehab appearance on Wednesday for Lake County (A) and reported no problems.
Hagadone is making his third trip to the Clippers. He has appeared in 13 games for the Indians, who were off on Thursday.
Manager Terry Francona's bridge to closer Chris Perez, Pestano hasn't pitched for the Indians since second game of a doubleheader against Kansas City on April 28. Pestano said he's been dealing with some soreness in his elbow the past two years.
