NEW YORK (AP) -- Carmelo Anthony scored 30 points, including a tiebreaking three-point play with 13.9 seconds left, and the New York Knicks overcame a 10-point deficit late in the third quarter to beat the Washington Wizards 103-100 on Wednesday night.

John Wall scored 29 points, hitting 10 of his 16 shots from the field, and Otto Porter Jr. added 22 points in the loss for the Wizards, who wrapped up their preseason schedule.

With the Knicks leading 100-97 with 1:22 left on the clock after a 3-point shot by Pablo Prigioni, who scored 11 points, Washington's Damion James evened it 100-all on a 3-pointer with 33.2 seconds left.

On the ensuing play, Anthony hit a jumper and was fouled. He made the free throw to give New York a three-point lead.

Porter Jr. had a chance to tie the game, but misfired on a 3-pointer.

With the season opener just a week away, starting point guard Jose Calderon played spectator role from the bench with Shane Larkin getting the starting nod. Calderon will probably do the same Friday night in New York's last preseason game when the Knicks face the Toronto Raptors in Montreal. The team played it safe with Calderon, who exited Monday night's game after injuring his right calf.

TIP-INS

Knicks: Amare Stoudemire returned to the bench after starting at center Monday night. Offseason acquisition Samuel Dalembert started and grabbed five rebounds and blocked three shots. ... Larkin and Prigioni shared the minutes at the point with Larkin getting five points, four assists and two turnovers in 23 minutes. The Argentine playmaker did not commit a turnover in 24 minutes.

Wizards: Wall had struggled over the last four games, shooting just 11 of 29 from the floor. The point guard had his best overall game of the preseason to go along with his 29 points. He finished up with seven assists and had four steals despite four turnovers. With 1:39 left in the game, Wall stole the ball from J.R. Smith and raced down the court for a dunk that tied the game at 97. ... Kevin Seraphin had 10 points off the bench.

WHAT'S THE POINT

For the first time this preseason, New York face its opponent's starting point guard. The Knicks faced the Boston Celtics twice but Rajon Rondo was out due to a broken hand. Toronto's Kyle Lowry sat out at the Garden and Philadelphia's Michael-Carter Williams didn't play due to a right shoulder injury. When Milwaukee was in town Monday night, their starting Brandon Knight was sidelined due to strained right groin.

UP NEXT

Knicks: travel to Canada to face the Toronto Raptors in Montreal on Friday night.

Wizards: open up the regular season Oct. 29 at Southeast Division rival Miami.
