Victorville felon arrested in 2004 kidnapping

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (AP) -- A man released from a Victorville prison after serving time for prostitution is back behind bars on suspicion of kidnapping a woman in 2004.

A San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman says Jerome Jaba Jackson was taken into custody Thursday by deputies who were waiting for him outside the prison where he'd just been released.

Jackson is accused of kidnapping a 42-year-old woman as she walked to a gym in May 2004. The woman fought the man off and managed to get away.

In July, a woman contacted the sheriff's department and said she had information about a possible suspect in the 2004 incident. The investigation led deputies to Jackson.

He has been booked on suspicion of kidnapping and is being held on $250,000 bail.
