SoCal teen pleads not guilty to homecoming murder | ||||||
LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- One of two teenagers accused of killing a Long Beach high school honor student after a homecoming football game has pleaded not guilty. Sixteen-year-old Tom Vinson entered pleas Monday to a count of murder and two counts each of attempted murder. His co-defendant, 16-year-old Daivion Davis, pleaded not guilty Nov. 6. Both are charged as adults in the shooting of 16-year-old Melody Ross and the attempted murder of an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old man on Oct. 30 at Woodrow Wilson High School. Vinson is accused of firing the shots. Police say Ross was an innocent bystander who was shot when two groups of gang members had a confrontation. She died at a hospital. © 2009 The Associated Press.
