Inmate laughs while describing fatal prison attack
ORDWAY, Colo. (AP) -- An inmate accused of stabbing one correctional officer to death and trying to kill another laughed in court Thursday as a video showed him discussing the attacks.
Miguel Alonso Contreras-Perez is charged with killing Sgt. Mary Ricard and attempting to kill Sgt. Lori Gann with a kitchen butcher knife on Sept. 24, 2012.
According to the Denver Post ( http://tinyurl.com/m8fe3vn ), a correctional officer who interrupted the assaults at Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility, Sgt. Lisa Orozco, sobbed during the preliminary hearing while the video interviews were shown.
Perez is an Army deserter who was sentenced in 2004 to 35 years to life in prison after he raped a 14-year-old girl he kidnapped in Colorado Springs.
