Northern Colorado's first female president to retire

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) -- The University of Northern Colorado's president has announced her retirement after 15 years at the helm.

The Greeley Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2wY60C0 ) 66-year-old Kay Norton announced on Tuesday that she will retire at the end of June.

Norton says she told the university's Board of Trustees about her retirement early so that it has time to conduct a search.

Norton has served as president since 2002. Only three other presidents in the university's 126-year history have served longer.

She is the longest tenured among current presidents of four-year public institutions in Colorado.

Norton is also the university's first female president.
