A man has died in an overnight shooting in New Haven


NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) -- A man has died in an overnight shooting in New Haven.

Police responded to Kensington Street near Yale-New Haven Hospital's Saint Raphael campus at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officers located 22-year-old New Haven resident Daryl Wayne Belton lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the back. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Witnesses told police that Belton was with a group of people when he was shot but none of them stayed at the scene.

There's no word on arrests.

Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to contact New Haven police.
