SVU crashes head-on with Pinellas bus


ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- Several people were taken to the hospital after a sports utility vehicle crashed head-on into a transit bus in St. Petersburg.

Police say the 57-year-old SUV driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition Thursday morning. Seven of the 15 people who were on the Pinellas County Transit Authority bus were also taken to the hospital. Officials say their injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening.

According to police, the SUV crossed over into the oncoming lane and struck the bus.

No further details were immediately available.
