Man gets 15 years for fatal shooting

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A South Florida teen has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the fatal shooting of a man at a park.

The Palm Beach Post (http://goo.gl/OYHbda) reports that 19-year-old Charles Wright was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to manslaughter. He had been facing a charge of first-degree murder.

Authorities say 24-year-old John Ruff IV was sitting on a park bench in 2014 when he was shot and killed.

Prosecutors say they offered the plea deal because most of the witnesses were young children, who were playing in the park when the shooting occurred.

A second suspect was never positively identified or charged.
