FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- Carin Koch has been appointed captain of the European Solheim Cup team that will face the United States in Germany next year.

The Ladies European Tour says the Swedish golfer will be the one to lead a team seeking an unprecedented hat trick of wins for Europe at Golf Club St. Leon-Rot from Sept. 18-20, 2015.

Last year, Europe claimed a historic first win in the United States with an 18-10 victory at Colorado Golf Club after ending the Americans' dominance in the competition in 2011 at Killeen Castle.

Koch, a vice captain in 2013, says "I cannot wait to stand with the team on the first tee next September to start our quest for the hat trick of wins against the US team."
