Meth killed Mitchell County inmate, official says

OSAGE, Iowa (AP) -- The chief state medical examiner says methamphetamine killed a Mitchell County jail inmate.

The Mason City Globe Gazette says (http://bit.ly/X8dpWt ) Dr. Julia Goodin reported Thursday that the cause of death for 32-year-old Christopher Servantez was acute meth intoxication and that his death was accidental.

A deputy found Servantez unresponsive in a jail cell on March 21. Servantez was taken to Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, where he was pronounced dead.

He'd been arrested on drug charges.
