GALESBURG, Ill. (AP) -- A man charged with killing eight people in Illinois and Missouri has been moved to Stateville Correctional Center near Joliet.
Knox County officials now say Nicholas Sheley was moved last Friday from the county jail in Galesburg.
Louis Glossip is a spokesman for the Knox County state's attorney's office. He says Sheley was moved to begin serving a seven-year sentence for assaulting jail employees.
The 30-year-old Sheley had been held in Knox County Jail since July 2008.
He's charged with murder in the June 2008 death of 65-year-old Ronald Randall of Galesburg. Sheley has pleaded not guilty.
Sheley is also charged with murder in five other deaths in Illinois and two in Missouri. He hasn't entered pleas in those cases.
