INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Indiana taxpayers filed a record 2.2 million electronic federal tax returns this year.
The Internal Revenue Service says this year's total for the filing year that ended Oct. 15 marks a 6 percent increase from the 2.1 million electronic returns filed for 2008.
The IRS says about three-quarters of all Indiana federal taxpayers filed electronically. Nationwide, about two-thirds of all federal taxpayers filed electronically.
The IRS says more than 760,000 Indiana taxpayers filed from their home computers this year.
