BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) -- Indiana University President Michael McRobbie is recommending tuition and fee increases of 1.75 percent for Indiana residents in each of the next two years at the school's Bloomington campus.

The university said the proposed tuition increase is the lowest since the late 1970s. It would raise tuition from $10,033 in 1012-13 to $10,209 next academic year to $10,388 the following year. Tuition and fees would increase 2.75 percent each year for non-Indiana residents.

IUPUI would see the same increases as Bloomington. Tuition and fee increases at IU's other regional campuses also would average 1.75 percent, with individual campus increases ranging from 1.3 percent to 2.2 percent.

The IU board of trustees will hold a public meeting on the recommendations at the IUPUI Campus Center in Indianapolis on June 5.
