Mother, daughter to be remembered in Rose Parade | ||||||
PITTSBURG, Kan. (AP) -- A Pittsburg woman and her daughter whose organs were donated after they died in a car accident will be honored on a float at the Rose Bowl Parade on New Year's Day. Teresa Kemp and her 13-year-old daughter, Taylor, will be among 76 people who will be remembered with floral portraits on the Donate Life float in the parade. The Kemps died after a July 16 car accident when a vehicle that was being pursued by a Cherokee County sheriff's deputy struck Teresa Kemp's vehicle. Each person depicted on the float donated organs, tissue or corneas, and in some cases all three. Donate Life works to inspire people to become organ donors. The Midwest Transplant Network, based in Westwood, Kan., is organizing a decorating event next month, but details have not been released. --- Information from: The Joplin Globe, http://www.joplinglobe.com © 2009 The Associated Press.
