GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (AP) -- A Virginia man who police say drove to western Michigan to have sex with a 14-year-old girl has pleaded guilty to a felony sex crime.

Twenty-two-year-old Eric Ortega of Williamsburg, Va., pleaded guilty Nov. 6 in Ottawa County Circuit Court to third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Police said Ortega was discovered in the girl's home in Ottawa County's Spring Lake Township by her parents in March. Investigators said he corresponded with the girl for several months on the Internet before traveling to Michigan.

Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 14. The charge carries up to 15 years in prison.

A message seeking comment was left Thursday for defense attorney Thomas Smith.
