JERUSALEM (AP) -- The Israeli military says it has killed a member of the Palestinian security forces during an overnight arrest raid.
The man was the target of the raid, which took place early Thursday in the West Bank town of Qalqilya.
Israel accuses the man of firing at its soldiers on a number of occasions. He was identified by a Palestinian security officer as Saleh Yasin, an intelligence service member. The officer spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the incident with the media.
The military says a gun and ammunition were found at the scene.
Recent months have seen an uptick in deadly violence between Israelis and Palestinians in the West Bank. A Palestinian was also killed Wednesday in an Israeli army operation in the territory.
