NC man apparently drowns in High Rock Lake
SOUTHMONT, N.C. (AP) -- Davidson County officials say a 78-year-old Southmont man has apparently drowned in High Rock Lake.
Multiple media outlets reported the man's body was pulled from the water shortly after 4 p.m. Monday. His name has not been released.
Sheriff David Grice said the man was an avid swimmer who went to the lake every morning.
The victim's wife had returned home around 1 p.m. Monday and found her husband was not there.
Grice said the man had other health issues and the body was being taken to Chapel Hill for an autopsy Tuesday.
