Hassan calls for Franken to resign over latest allegations

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- One of New Hampshire's Democratic senators is calling on Minnesota Sen. Al Franken to resign following a new sexual misconduct accusation from a former Democratic congressional aide.

Sen. Maggie Hassan says it's clear that Franken "engaged in a pattern of egregious and unacceptable behavior toward women, and he should resign." She was joined Wednesday by several other female senators also calling on the two-term senator to step aside, including Democratic New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand on her Facebook page.

Franken denied the latest allegation that he tried to forcibly kiss the aide after a taping of his radio show in 2006. The senator is already facing a Senate Ethics Committee investigation into previous claims by several other women that he groped them or sought to forcibly kiss them.
