2 killed when car, bread delivery truck collide near school; cause of crash being investigated

MONTGOMERY, N.Y. (AP) -- Police are trying to determine what caused a car and a bread delivery truck to collide in front of a Hudson Valley elementary school, killing two people a few hours before classes were scheduled to begin.

Police in the Orange County town of Montgomery tell the Times Herald-Record of Middletown ( http://bit.ly/1Dbppti ) that the crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at an intersection in front of Montgomery Elementary School.

Officers say two people in the car both died instantly. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries. No names have been released.

The crash delayed the opening of the elementary school for two hours.
