1 dead, 1 injured in house fire in western New York; Genesee County blaze under investigation


BYRON, N.Y. (AP) -- Authorities say one person is dead and another is hospitalized after a fire breaks out at a home in western New York.

Officials in Genesee County tell local media that the fire was reported around 2 a.m. Friday at a home in the rural town of Byron, 23 miles west of Rochester.

Authorities say a man died in the fire and a woman was rescued from the burning home. She has been taken to United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

No other information has been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
