Man's body recovered after being spotted floating in river

UNION, N.Y. (AP) -- Authorities say a man's body has been found floating in the Susquehanna River near Binghamton.

Broome County Sheriff David Harder tells the Press & Sun-Bulletin of Binghamton ( ) that emergency crews recovered the body early Monday morning in the town of Union, just west of Binghamton.

Harder says a passer-by noticed the body floating down the river at about 6 p.m. Sunday. He says state police brought in a boat they launched from across the river in the town Vestal.

Harder says it took several hours remove the body because it got stuck in an ice jam.

He says the man's identification hasn't been determined.
