Man gets 22 ½ to 45 years in girlfriend's slaying, laughs
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- A Pennsylvania man convicted of murdering his girlfriend has been sentenced to the maximum 22 ½ to 45 years in prison and laughed as he was led out of the courtroom.
Prosecutors say Ryan Duboise had his 27-year-old girlfriend, Monet Hall, watched and that he beat her in bouts of jealous rage.
Duboise told police in April 2014 that he found Hall's naked and badly beaten body in a Philadelphia apartment and that she had been killed by an unknown assailant.
A jury in April convicted the 27-year-old Folcroft man of third-degree murder and a weapons charge.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports (http://bit.ly/28ZSYFZ ) Duboise, who acted as his own attorney, said just before his sentencing Monday that he wouldn't be threatened by any sentence.
Duboise says he will appeal.
