Box office top 20: 'Furious 7' speeds to $59.6 million

NEW YORK (AP) -- "Furious 7" continues to run loops around the competition, taking the box office checkered flag for the second straight week with a commanding $59.6 million in North American theaters.

The Universal action sequel has made $251.5 million in two weeks, making it easily the biggest hit of the year so far. The only other new wide release, the Fox rodeo romance "The Longest Ride" opened somewhat weakly with $13 million.

The top 20 movies at U.S. and Canadian theaters Friday through Sunday, followed by distribution studio, gross, number of theater locations, average receipts per location, total gross and number of weeks in release, as compiled Monday by Rentrak:
