FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) -- Former top Pentagon officials investigating the Fort Hood shootings are at the Texas Army post. Former Army Secretary Togo West and former Navy chief, Vernon Clark, were appointed to lead the 45-day review after the Nov. 5 shooting spree that left 13 dead. They will examine procedures for identifying volatile U.S. military service members hidden in the ranks and lapses that might allow others to slip through unnoticed. It's unclear if they will try to talk to Maj. Nidal Hasan, who's been charged in the deaths. He remains in intensive care at a San Antonio military hospital. Hasan's civilian attorney said Tuesday that it's highly unlikely he would allow the Pentagon team or anyone else to question his client. © 2009 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
