ATLANTA (AP) -- A former Atlanta airport worker has pleaded guilty in a plot to smuggle drugs into the U.S.

Prosecutors say 35-year-old Luis Marroquin pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances.

Prosecutors say he and two other Delta Air Lines ramp workers tried to smuggle a bag filled with more than $600,000 worth of heroin and methamphetamine into the country on a flight from Mexico City. The plot was foiled after another employee discovered the bag on an unclaimed luggage carousel and alerted authorities.

Kelvin Rondon, 27, of Atlanta, pleaded guilty on July 19 to the same charge. The case of the third man, 41-year-old Carlos Springer, is still pending.

Marroquin and Rondon face a maximum of life in prison and fines up to $10,000,000.
