Arraignment postponed in Seattle officer slaying | ||||||
SEATTLE (AP) -- The arraignment of the man charged with killing Seattle police Officer Timothy Brenton on Halloween has been postponed until he is released from a hospital. The King County prosecutor's office says the arraignment for Christopher Monfort, which had been set for Tuesday, is now scheduled for Dec. 1 if he is out of the hospital. The 41-year-old Tukwila man has been at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle since he was wounded in a Nov. 6 confrontation with officers. Monfort is charged with aggravated murder. King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg will decide whether to seek the death penalty. Spokesman Dan Donohoe says the arraignment is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Dec. 1 in Room 1201 of the King County Courthouse. © 2009 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
