HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Former members of the Hartford Whalers hockey team are gathered in the city to take in some minor league baseball.
The Double-A Hartford Yard Goats are honoring the city's NHL past by hosting their third annual "Whalers Alumni Weekend."
The former players will host a barbecue before Saturday's game and will be available to sign autographs before the game.
The Whalers played their last home game in Hartford in 1997, before leaving for North Carolina.
The Yard Goats also are wearing special uniforms this weekend, designed to resemble the old Whalers' sweaters.
