School resource officer accused of DWI, hit-and-run

NEW BERN, N.C. (AP) — Several charges, including driving while impaired and reckless driving, have been filed against a North Carolina school resource officer who state troopers say was involved in a hit-and-run accident.

WITN reports Lenoir County sheriff's deputy Karen Lee was charged by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol on Monday after the hit-and-run accident on U.S. Highway 70 near Cove City in Jones County. The patrol says its troopers were notified by authorities in Jones County, and Lee was stopped in Craven County.

Lee is also charged with open container.

Troopers in Jones County are handling the hit-and-run investigation.
