HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — New York Red Bulls defender Connor Lade has retired after eight seasons with the MLS team.
The 29-year-old New Jersey native announced the retirement Wednesday. He has been a part of the club since December 2007 when he joined Red Bulls Academy during his senior year of high school.
After playing at St. John's, Lade was signed as New York's fifth homegrown player in December 2011. He started 22 of his 26 games in 2012 with three assists.
Lade made 116 starts and played in 153 games. He had five goals and nine assists and finished as the club's all-time leader in homegrown appearances.
