Deputy on leave after allegedly pulling gun on teen at park

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a sheriff's deputy is on leave after cellphone video appears to show him pulling a gun on a teenager during an off-duty confrontation at a Southern California skatepark.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department would not provide details but acknowledged Wednesday that an internal investigation has begun.

The Orange County Register reports the incident happened Oct. 12 in San Clemente after the man approached a group of teens over their playing loud music.

In video from the scene, the man wearing shorts and a baseball cap has an exchange with a boy who at one point kneels on the ground with his arms in the air. Someone is heard saying the man pulled out a gun. He also flashes a badge.

The deputy has not been named.
