LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina teen accused of fatally shooting a man was caught by authorities in Alabama after fleeing the scene.
News outlets report the 17-year-old was arrested Tuesday. The teen is being charged with murder and possession of a weapon in the death of 19-year-old Jaquavious Neely.
Lancaster County sheriff's spokesman Doug Barfield says the shooting happened Sunday. He says Neely was sitting on a porch and the teen fired at least one shot at him from the passenger side of a car.
Barfield says it's unclear why Neely was at the home or why he was targeted. He says neither teen lived there.
Barfield says deputies are prepared to force extradition. It's unclear if the teen is being charged as an adult or if he has attorney representation.
