MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Anglers can fish for free without a license around Vermont during the state's annual free fishing day later this month.
The event happens on Saturday, June 12, which is also the opening day of the regular bass fishing season, the state Fish and Wildlife Department said.
“Vermont’s Free Fishing Day gives anglers the opportunity to go fishing without a license for the day in Vermont lakes and streams,” Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Louis Porter said in a written statement. “Fishing is an activity that can be shared with family or easily taught to newcomers while enjoying quality time together.”
The bass season runs through November.
