WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A Wichita man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 17-year-old during a drug deal, police said.
Malcolm Louis Ganther, 22, was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder and aggravated battery in the death of Marcus Sain.
Police say Sain and another teenager got into the back of Ganther's car on May 20 for a drug deal involving marijuana.
A disturbance inside the car led another suspect to approach Ganter's car and shoot both teenagers, police said. Ganther and the second suspect fled in their vehicles, leaving the teenagers bleeding from gunshot wounds, The Wichita Eagle reported.
Sain died the next day. The second teen was treated and released from a hospital for his injuries.
Prosecutors allege Sain’s killing happened in the commission of an “inherently dangerous felony” — distributing marijuana.
Police are searching for the second suspect, whose name has not been released.
