Reno, Sparks Detectives Both Shot At Man Killed Near Us 395

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Two police detectives fired shots at a suspect who was killed this week after he fled officers at a high speed and crashed into an unmarked police unit on a highway ramp just north of Reno, the Washoe County sheriff's office said Friday

Richard Thomas, a 41-year-old Reno man wanted on a firearms warrant, was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon on the U.S 395 onramp at Golden Valley, the sheriff’s office said in a statement Friday.

The county coroner's office said earlier this week he died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Two police detectives, one from Reno and one from Sparks, “fired their duty weapons,” according to the sheriff's office investigating the officer-involved shooting. It didn't specify if one or both hit their target.

One unidentified detective suffered minor injuries from falling from a speeding vehicle during the incident, was treated at a local hospital and later released, the sheriff's office said.
