WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — After a 10 month deployment, over 150 Rhode Island National Guard troops returned home on Thanksgiving night.
WPRI-TV reports that 157 men and women from the 115th Military Police Company landed at T.F. Green Airport Thursday and were bused to the Community College of Rhode Island where they were reunited with loved ones.
The 115th was deployed in Southwest Asia and traveled to nine different countries, according to Cmdr. Patrick Potter.
Lisa McCurdy told the broadcaster that it had been 316 days since she last saw her husband First Lt. Charles McCurdy, who was one of the soldiers returning.
“You see on YouTube these great homecoming videos, but at the end of the day, all we want is our soldiers back,” Lisa McCurdy said.
