NEW YORK (AP) — A 22-year-old man was arrested for assaulting an employee at a Staten Island hospital, then later died in custody at the hospital from unknown causes, police said Friday.
Officers were called to Staten Island University North Hospital at about 8 p.m. Thursday after a 26-year-old staffer said Daniel Milton, a patient, had grabbed her buttocks, police said.
Milton was arrested and became combative toward medical staff, police said in a news release. He was medicated while still in custody, they said.
Milton began experiencing difficulty breathing early Friday, police said. He was pronounced dead just after 1 a.m.
The death is under investigation, police said. The city medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
