BENTON, Tenn. (AP) — Officials say cleanup is underway after a fuel tanker crashed in the Ocoee River in southern Tennessee, spilling fuel into the waterway.
Polk County Emergency Management Agency Director Steve Lofty told news reporters that the tanker crashed Tuesday evening while carrying 4,000 gallons of gasoline and 4,000 gallons of diesel. It was unclear how much had leaked into the water.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Alan Bailey says the truck driver escaped with minor injuries.
Highway 64 where the crash occurred remained closed Wednesday morning.
