Authorities ID inmate whose death led to prison lockdown

WHITEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities have released the identity of the Tennessee inmate whose death over the weekend caused the prison to partially lock down as authorities investigate.

CoreCivic spokeswoman Amanda Gilchrist tells news outlets that Albert Dorsey was found unconscious in his cell on Saturday after his cellmate called for help.

Emergency medical assistance was provided and Dorsey was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities didn't immediately release Dorsey's cause of death. The Tennessee Department of Correction is investigating.
